4 carnappers killed in Bulacan shootout

CAMP OLIVAS -- Four suspected carnappers were killed after they exchanged fire with joint operatives of the Bulacan police in Barangay Bagong Silang, Plaridel, Bulacan last Sunday, November 3.

The suspects, who are still unidentified as of Monday, November 4, forcibly took a car along the national highway in Plaridel, Bulacan.

The victim, identified as Michael Reyes, reported immediately to Plaridel Police Station that his Toyota Vios with a plate number of AHA-2068 was carnapped by two unidentified armed men.

The carnappers then headed toward a bypass road, prompting the Plaridel Police and the Bulacan Police Intelligence branch to respond to the area.

Police conducted a hot pursuit operation and later intercepted the suspects along Barangay Bagong Silang, Plaridel.

The troops flagged down the car but the suspects did not stop and fired towards the policemen.

A firefight ensued, resulting in the killing of the four suspects, the report said.

Recovered from the crime scene were a .45 caliber pistol, one Uzi submachine gun, two .38 caliber revolvers, the carnapped vehicle, and one Toyota Vios with a plate number of AHA 2068.

Brigadier General Leonardo Cesneros, officer-in-charge of Police Regional Office-Central Luzon, commended the Bulacan police for their immediate action and the neutralization of the carnappers. (Ric Sapnu)
