RESIDENTS of San Simon, Pampanga who were displaced by the Covid-19 pandemic were employed by the Office of the Vice Mayor through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa mga Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (Tupad) program.

Vice Mayor Leonora Wong said a total of 40 Simonians were employed under the said program, which is in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

She said beneficiaries were tasked to do gardening, sweeping of roads and other community works for 14 days.

"Beneficiaries, who were equally chosen from the 14 barangays here, received around P4,500 at the end of their service," Wong said.

Wong added that she coordinated with DOLE for the implementation of the said program to aid pandemic-affected Simonians.

"The salary that they received will help get through the days while they are still looking for job or other source of income," the vice mayor said.
