9,000 cops deployed in Central Luzon for elections

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga - A total of 9,000 policemen were deployed Saturday in different provinces in Central Luzon Region to beef up security to ensure the conduct of safe and secure Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on Monday.

Chief Superintendent Amador Copus, Police Regional Office (PRO) director, said the policemen were deployed as early 7 a.m. Saturday, May 12.

Corpus said the deployed policemen came from different provincial and city police offices in the region to conduct security for peaceful and safe elections.

“We will also send out police personnel assigned to do desk work and PNP (Philippine National Police) personnel undergoing schooling to the different polling precincts to increase the number of those tasked to ensure peaceful elections this coming May 14,” he said.

Out of the 9,000 personnel, 280 personnel from the Regional Headquarters will also be deployed in the provinces of Bulacan, Pampanga and Nueva Ecija, Corpus said.

“We continue to carry out our mandated tasks to ensure the attainment of safe and secure Barangay and SK elections this Monday, May 14 as we relatively remain steadfast in our anti-criminality efforts,” he said.
