THE number of active coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in Candaba, Pampanga reached another all-time high over the weekend.

On its Sunday (April 11) bulletin, the local government reported that there are a total of 136 active cases of Covid-19 in town and it was higher than its number of recoveries with only 122.

In two-week span alone since the start of April, a total of 101 Covid-19 cases were recorded in the town.

Mayor Rene Maglanque said most of the new cases were employees working outside of the municipality and infected their family members.

Barangays with the highest active cases are San Agustin with 20, Dalayap and Paralaya with 14 each, and Paligui with 11.

Maglanque said localized lockdown in said barangays is enforced to limit the movement of people and contain the spread of the disease.

Presentation of negative swab test results is also required for non-residents, especially those coming from Bulacan province, which is still under modified enhanced community quarantine.

Maglanque urged Candabeños to strictly follow all health protocols in place to avoid being infected by the virus.

A Covid-19 survivor himself, Maglangue said the disease is not a joke and must be taken seriously, as it can really threaten one's health.
