Aeta farmers get farm carabaos from DA

SOME 40 heads carabao were received by the Tribung Ayta Ambala ng Bayan Bayanan and Pamahalaan ng mga Katutubong Ayta sa Matalangao as part of the Depart of Agriculture’s (DA) support program for indigenous peoples (IP).

The two beneficiary groups are from Barangay Bayan in Bayanan of Dinalupihan town and from Barangay Banawang of Bagac town in Bataan. The DA distributed the said carabao’s on Monday, February 28.

Through the Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran para sa Kababayang Katutubo (4Ks) program spearheaded by Regional 4Ks Focal Person Memito Luyun III, the DA aims to develop the Ancestral Agriculture Lands of the ICCs/IPs in order to improve its productivity, profitability, and resiliency; develop among them sustainable agricultural enterprises; and improve their incomes.

The 4Ks is a three-year special project of the DA where it provides assistance to the Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICC) and Indigenous Peoples (IP) in the form of agricultural and fisheries related livelihood opportunities.

It aims to capacitate the IPs through community organizing, agricultural skills training and workshops to increase knowledge and productivity.
