THE Angeles City government has put up Philippine flags all over the City Hall premises and off-site offices on May 25, 2022, in observance of the National Flag Day and the Philippine Independence Day.

Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. said this initiative is to continue remembering the country’s victories during the colonial period.

The flags will be installed until June 12, while the celebration of the National Flag Day is on May 28.

“Full support po tayo sa National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) sa kanilang “Salute to a Clean Flag” movement. This is in line with the objective to promote patriotism and love for the country,” Lazatin said.

The said display of the country’s flag is made possible through the City Tourism Office headed by Anneleen Antonio-Sugui and the members of of the Angeles City Barangay Outreach led by Michael Lising.

Lazatin mentioned that the celebration of both National Flag Day and Independence Day should be dedicated to the country's unsung heroes who led us to our national freedom, as well as to the modern heroes — the health workers — battling the onslaught of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel also echoed this, sharing that as part of the celebration, the City Engineer’s Office led by Engr. Donato Dizon already installed and lit up the Independence Day lanterns along the Abacan Bridge since May 22.

Antonio-Sugui, City Tourism Officer-in-Charge, meanwhile assures the public that the city government is doing its part in enriching both Filipino and Kapampangan history and culture.

This is also not the first time that the city partook in the movement of “Stop and Salute," Antonio-Sugui says. (PR)
