Angeles mayor orders evacuation of families near creek

ANGELES CITY Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., has ordered the evacuation of 51 families residing near a damaged creek slope in Barangay Amsic.

During his inspection on Monday morning, Lazatin ordered the evacuation of 51 families, composed of 212 individuals.

Lazatin also ordered the City Engineer’s Office led by Engineer Donato Dizon to check the integrity of the creek.

The mayor instructed the City Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Edna Duaso to distribute food packages and hygiene kits to the evacuees.

Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rudy Simeon joined Lazatin during the inspection.

On Sunday night, Lazatin was at the Angeles City Disaster Command Center to monitor the situation as the super typhoon passes through the city.

He earlier said the city government is all eyes on the current situation and that frontline offices are also on standby in any event.
