IN ORDER to bring government services closer to constituents, the local government in Apalit, Pampanga hosted its weekly People’s Day held in Barangay Calantipe this town Friday, August 2.

Several services were conducted, including medical consultation, referral and giving away of medicines, dental check-up and tooth extraction, and other social services especially intended for senior citizens, solo parents and persons with disability, all free of charge.

The Civil Registry Office also offered free registration of birth, marriage and death certificates, while the Municipal Agricultural Office provided assistance to local farmers on their agriculture-related concerns.

Seminars and livelihood trainings were also offered by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection and Public Employment Office.

According to Mayor Oscar “Jun” Tetangco Jr., the local government’s hosting of Barangay People’s Day is aimed showing people the true essence of governance by providing quality service to its constituents.

“This is one way of showing our kabalens that local government is really for the people and that we, public servants, both elected and municipal employees, are here to serve them,” he said.

Tetangco added that People’s Day will also be conducted in other barangays in this town in the coming weeks to ensure that all Apaliteños can avail of the services offered by the government.
