THE Bank of Florida (BOF) recently honored the late Levy P. Laus, chairman emeritus of the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. and chairman and chief executive officer of the Laus Group of Companies.

Laus was also an independent director at BOF from 2003 to 2018, before becoming chairman of the board in 2018 until his untimely death on April 25, 2019.

During BOF’s 55th anniversary celebration at the LausGroup Event Centre in the City of San Fernando, the bank’s board of directors and new Chairman of the Board Jess Nicdao, together with President and CEO Teresa David Carlos, bestowed the posthumous-memorial recognition.

“We bestow this posthumous award for his 16 years of extraordinary leadership, service and unparalleled support to BOF and all his creative and novel ideas which redounded to the best interest of stockholders, officers, employees, depositors, borrowers, and all stakeholders in the banking industry,” said Nicdao.

“This memorial recognition is in grateful appreciation to Liberato ‘Levy’ P. Laus, chairman of the board from 2018 to 2019, and director from 2003 to 2018. His legacy lives in the many lives he had touched,” David-Carlos added.

In response, Laus’ daughter Diorella said the family is thankful for the tribute.

“We are deeply honored. My father treats BOF as if it is his own. Thank you very much for putting your trust in him as chairman and independent director. We are committed to continue his legacy as well as his advocacies,” she said. (JTD)
