BALANGA CITY, Bataan -- The Provincial Government of Bataan launched Monday, September 17, a project that challenges residents to plant and grow one million trees.

“1Million Trees for 1Bataan aims to encourage Bataeños to plant more trees and help the province in empowering environmental responsiveness,” Governor Albert Raymond Garcia said.

The project is implemented in partnership with Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Sangguniang Kabataan.

“In line with our vision to attain sustainable economic growth, this project would contribute to the environment because the tress that we would plant will greatly help lessen pollutants,” Garcia said.

Aside from the massive tree-planting activity, residents were also encouraged to submit a geo-tagged photo documentation for a chance to win various prizes.

DENR Bataan Division Chief Mila Ramirez lauded government officials and community leaders for their efforts to enhance and preserve the environment.

“With the help of our leaders, let us all work together to protect the environment by fully supporting this kind of projects,” Ramirez said.
