SOME P900,000 worth of livelihood assistance was awarded by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)-Central Luzon to fishermen of Tarlac Province recently.

BFAR-Central Luzon director Willy Cruz personally led the turnover of equipment to fisherfolk that can be used to store and market their harvest.

These include bicycles with sidecars with vacuum-sealed storages, metal storages, hi-tech table scales, and heavy duty tables.

Cruz said the distribution of equipment, which totaled to some P900,000, is aimed at boosting the livelihood of fishermen by ensuring the quality of the products and services.

He also vowed BFAR-3’s more comprehensive delivery of service to local fishermen with the recent opening of Provincial Fishery Office.

“Our opening of provincial office here will bring our programs and projects to fisherfolk here so expect more assistance from us,” he said.
