FORMER Lubao Mayor and Second District Board Member Mylyn Pineda Cayabyab visited 500 solo parents from Mexico, Santa Ana and Arayat over the weekend as she checked on the status of their families amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Cayabyab met with solo parents of Mexico town in Barangay Santo Cristo and brought food packs to 128 beneficiaries.

Cayabyab, who was with Third istrict Board Member Ananias Canlas Jr., also consulted with the solo parents on their current situation amid the pandemic and other possible support that the Provincial Government could extend through provincial legislation.

“We are currently in the process of consultation and will soon formalize the necessary legislation to further extend support to our solo parents especially during this difficult time,” Cayabyab said.

The lawmaker said the pandemic had brought hardships to many families who have lost livelihoods and the situation is even more challenging to solo parents who would have to support their families on their own.

Cayabyab also met with solo parents of Santa Ana town, while Canlas visited solo parents of Arayat town. Solo parents from the said towns also received food packs.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
