Broadcaster arrested for illegal drugs

CAMP MACABULOS, Tarlac City -- A broadcaster suspected to be a drug personality was arrested during a raid in his house in Barangay San Isidro, this city, Friday.

Senior Superintendent Ritchie Posadas, Tarlac police provincial director, identified the suspect as Evangelino Dizon alias Jing Dizon, 56, a resident of said barangay and broadcaster of dzTC and dzRH.

Posadas said joint elements of the Tarlac provincial investigation branch, Tarlac Drug Enforcement Unit and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Luzon served against Dizon a search warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 64 of Tarlac.

Recovered from the Dizon were five sachets of “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride), 12 medium sized plastic sachets of marijuana leaves, and two short firearms.

The search and seizure was conducted in the presence of barangay officials, media men and representatives from the Department of Justice.

The suspect was taken to Tarlac police investigation branch for further investigation, Posadas said.

He said Dizon is considered as high-value target level 2 personality of Tarlac police. (Ric Sapnu)
