A VETERAN broadcaster said he will run as an independent candidate for the mayoral post in Mabalacat City.

Diosdado "Deng" Pangilinan has vowed to end corruption, pursue public accountability and transparency in the local government if he wins in next year's polls.

He said the more than a billion revenue of Mabalacat City should been infused in its socio-civic and economic development.

With an annual budget of P1.7 billion, Pangilinan said he can implement projects that will benefit the residents of Mabalacat.

“Napakalaki po ng pondo ng Mabalacat City. Kung ito po ay gagastusin sa tamang paraan marami po sa ating mga kababayan sa Mabalacat City ang ating matutulungan,” said Pangilinan.

Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Pangilinan said he will implement a no-nonsense health program that will also support business and education continuity programs.

“Marami pa po sa ating mga kababayan sa Mabalacat ang hindi nababakunahan. Kailangan po na ipagpatuloy natin ang makabuluhang vaccination program,” he said.

Pangilinan has vowed to pursue other programs including the streamlining of the business registration system, peace and order, eradication of poverty and hunger, universal primary education, gender equality, reduction of child mortality, maternal health, and many others.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
