CANDABA -- After two weeks of battling the disease, Mayor Rene Maglanque of this town has finally recovered from the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Maglanque tested negative on two consecutive reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction tests which results were released on July 25 and 28, respectively.

The said tests served as confirmation that the local chief executive has recuperated from the disease, and is not contagious anymore.

Maglanque also disclosed that his physician permitted him to return to work provided that minimum health standards will be observed.

"Since I have already fought off the virus and I am not contagious anymore, my doctor told me I can go back to office and perform my duties as mayor again," he said.

He also expressed gratitude for not infecting any of his close contacts as confirmed in the rapid and swab testing conducted on his family and fellow local government employees.

Maglanque first underwent swab testing on July 16 after experiencing symptoms of Covid-19 such as fever, cough and diarrhea. The result turned out positive on July 18.
