Central Luzon Covid-19 cases surpass 4,000 mark

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Central Luzon's coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases have reached 4,023 confirmed cases, according to an August 21 bulletin of the Department of Health (DOH).

Of the cases, 2,227 are all in the province of Bulacan. Bulacan has the highest confirmed cases in the region followed by Pampanga and Bataan at third.

Aside from the most number of cases, Bulacan also has the highest number of deaths at 65.

Pampanga is second in terms of confirmed cases with 628 cases, as well as in mortalities with 20 recorded covid-related deaths.

Bataan is not a far third with 562 confirmed cases and 16 deaths.

A significant rise in the number of cases was also recorded in several provinces like Zambales (134), Tarlac (129), and Nueva Ecija (264).

Of the 4,023 cases, 400 are still admitted to government hospitals while 1,653 have been discharged to complete home quarantine of 14 days.

The DOH in the region claims that 1,843 have already recovered.

Some 127 people in the region have died of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.
