City holds freedom day headdress tilt

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- As part of its grand celebration of Independence Day last Tuesday, the city government here held a Freedom Day headdress tilt at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center here participated in by various groups.

The headdress competition searched for the most colorful, most creative, and most eco-friendly headdresses under four categories namely non-government organizations (NGOs), sectoral, and private groups; local government units (LGUs) and attached agencies; national government agencies; and the education sector.

For the NGOs, sectoral, and private groups category, the Federation of Home Owners’ Association brought home the most colorful award while the Fernandina Women’s Federation was awarded most creative.

For the LGUs and attached agencies category, the most colorful award went to the City Agriculture and Veterinary Office while the most creative and most eco-friendly awards were given to City Environment and Natural Resources Office and City Accountant’s Office, respectively.

Pag-ibig Fund bagged the most colorful award for the national government agencies category, along with other winners including the Department of Public Works and Highways for the most creative award and the Department of Agriculture as most eco-friendly.

The most colorful award for the Education Sector category was won by San Fernando Elementary School while Sindalan High School emerged as the most creative and Pampanga High School as the most eco-friendly.

The competition featured several Central Luzon festivals and services from participating agencies and offices.
