SEVERAL kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabut) were seized by the Police Regional Office in Central Luzon (PRO 3) in several operations conducted in September 2019.

According to PRO 3 Director Joel Coronel, a total of 846 anti-illegal drug operations were implemented across the region for the month of September alone.

The consecutive operations resulted in the recovery of nearly 12 kilos of shabu and more than 15 kilos of marijuana, Coronel disclosed.

He added that some 1,087 drug suspects were arrested from the said anti-illegal drug activities, wherein 57 of them were neutralized after resisting arrest.

Coronel said 3,524 drug surrenderers are currently enrolled and undergoing treatment at the different Bahay Pagbabago Reformation Centers all over Central Luzon.

He said the strict implementation of police operations is in line with PRO 3's goal of making Central Luzon a drug-free region.

“We will have no let-up in stopping the proliferation of illegal drugs in the region and we will keep on conducting operations through Project Double Barrel as we aim to attain our goal of a drug-free region. I appeal to the public to continuously support us in this fight because we cannot do it alone,” he said.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
