THE Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Field Office-Central Luzon celebrated the World Food Day 2020 at the regional office in the City of San Fernando on Monday, October 12.

This year's celebration ran with the theme: Our Actions are our Future "Growth, Nourish, Sustain. Together."

The main objective of the celebration was to heighten public awareness on the problem of hunger, malnutrition and poverty, as well as focus attention on agriculture and food production.

Preserving access to safe and nutritious food and will continue to be an important part of the response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

OIC-RTD for Research, Regulatory and ILD Dr. Eduardo L. Lapuz Jr. in his message said that this celebration will show the contribution of the DA specifically our farmers and fisherfolk to improved food security and the advocacy of zero hunger by 2030.

"Very significant ang ating celebration ng World Food Day sapagkat dito natin naipapakita ang ating contribution sa Department of Agriculture lalong lalo na ang ating mga farmers and fisherfolks," he said.

In line with this, the Food and Agriculture Organization Philippines is calling on all Filipino youths 7 to 19 years old to join TikTok creative videos that showcase the idea of "Food Hero."

Moreover, ages 5 to 19 years old are also encouraged to participate on Poster Contest to use the imagination and creative poster of favorite food hero at work.
