DBM fetes San Fernando for green programs

Nicole Renee David

THE Department of Budget and Management (DBM) recently recognized the City Government of San Fernando's sustainable greening projects during the “green, green, green program” or Local Government Support Fund-Assistance to Cities (LGSF-AC) launch.

The award serves as a proof of Mayor Edwin Santiago's statement, “truly we can marry infrastructure development with environmental management.”

DBM Secretary Benjamin Diokno together with Senator Sonny Angara extended the award to the local government unit represented by City Engineer’s Office Officer-in-Charge Anele David.

A city park funded by the DBM will soon be established at the city civic center in Barangay San Isidro.

Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) recently gave P1.4 million to support the city government’s climate change adaptation and mitigation related programs.

The check was received by City Social Welfare and Development Officer Aileen Villanueva and City Treasurer Mary Ann Bautista.

Villanueva said the funds will be used to sustain the cash-for-work fourth wave vegetable gardening projects in all 35 barangays of the city.

Some 500 selected beneficiaries, who will work for 10 days, will each receive P285 daily allowance.
