DENR hosts online quiz contest

THE Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Central Luzon will be hosting an online quiz contest for the Month of the Ocean this May for high school students.

The contest is open to Grade 7 to 12 students enrolled in any school in Central Luzon. To view contest mechanics, students can visit https://bit.ly/Moo2020Quiz and Month of the Ocean - DENR R3.

May is the “Month of the Ocean” (MOO) under Presidential Proclamation No. 57 of 1998. It is celebrated every May of each year, because this month is the peak of fishing season in the Philippines.

As an archipelago, our country is rich with teeming marine life that provides ecosystem services like food, medicine and livelihood.

In Central Luzon, the more than 7,000-hectare Masinloc-Oyon Bay Protected Seascape (MOBPS) is an important marine protected area and home to unique and diverse marine species that supports the life and livelihood of coastal communities in Zambales.
