IT’S all systems go for the opening of the Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) satellite campus in the municipality of Apalit this coming June.

With DHVSU’s opening, Mayor Oscar Tetangco, Jr, said Apaliteños who want to pursue tertiary education need not to go out of the municipality and pay tuition fees.

“Our vision is to let Apaliteños finish their studies and have a better career ahead of them by equipping them with quality education and DHVSU is among the best partners for that,” he said.

Although the actual building located in Barangay Sampaloc here will not be finished by June, Tetangco said the local government has signed a memorandum of agreement with Gonzales Memorial College to temporarily lend their facility to the local government.

“We cannot rush the construction of the building but we cannot also delay the opening of DHVSU as many students are already waiting so we came up with this idea to partner with Gonzales Memorial College,” he said.

Tetangco said four courses namely Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management, Bachelor of Elementary Education and Bachelor of Business Administration major in Marketing will be initially offered in the satellite campus.

“We are targeting about 400 enrolees for the first semester. Eventually, we are expecting that the population will grow along with the campus expansion and increase in the number of courses that will be offered,” he said.

Vice Mayor Peter Nucom urged Apaliteño youth to take the opportunity of finishing their studies at minimal cost and enrol at DHVSU Apalit.

“DHVSU offers quality education at zero tuition fees. The local government also offers financial assistance to deserving students so I hope our students and the parents will maximize this opportunity for the future of their children,” he said.
