TRANSPORTATION Secretary Arthur Tugade has activated his first ever Facebook account few days after fake social media accounts had surfaced.

This move was aimed to neutralize bogus accounts using the photos and name of the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) chief.

"In recent months, there have been a number of fake and poser Facebook accounts that have been using the images and commentaries of Department of Transportation Secretary Arthur P. Tugade," the agency stated.

"In order to neutralize the proliferation of these fake accounts, and eliminate the confusion, DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade is formally joining Facebook, under his official Facebook Page ‘Arthur P. Tugade’," it added.

This way, Tugade will be able to complement and personally validate what the DOTr has been cascading and disseminating in terms of updates, developments and important pronouncements in public transportation, the agency added.

It also said that the public may expect Tugade to be more engaged in his official Facebook page as his way of personally interlinking and interlocking ideas, thoughts and suggestions with netizens, “on how best we can make our country’s transportation better than ever.”

"Come and join DOTr Secretary Tugade as he journeys into social media and together, grow the platform that can lead to a brighter, and more mobile and connected tomorrow for the country and the Filipino people," the DoTr said.
