THE Department Of Transportation (DOTr), through its Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), has released some P8O2 million worth of cash subsidy to public utility vehicle (PUV) operators all over the country.

The amount was distributed to 123,000 PUV units for 59,000 operators.

This represents 91 percent of the total number of beneficiaries, according to the LTFRB.

LTFRB Chairman Martin B. Delgra III said the cash assistance is for PUV drivers and operators affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

LTFRB is targeting 178,000 PUV units under the program, according to Delgra.

The Direct Cash Subsidy is a program under the Bayanihan To Recover As One Act o Bayanihan II aimed at helping PUV operators encountering difficulties recover from their livelihood because of the safety protocols enforced by the government.
