THE Department of Transportation (DoTr) has stressed the benefits of an automated fare collection system set to be implemented by the agency.

Under the scheme, a dedicated card will be issued to passengers that will be used in any type of transportation.

"Sa ilalim ng Automatic Fare Collection System (AFCS), Europay, Mastercard, Visa (EMV) Pilot Production Testing Project ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) katuwang ang Landbank of the Philippines (LBP), ilulunsad ang makabagong sistema ng pagbabayad kung saan ang EMV contactless bank cards ay magagamit na hindi lamang sa pamimili ng gamit at iba pang mga pangangailangan, kundi pati narin sa pagko-komyut," the DoTr stated.

DoTr Secretary Arthur Tugade ordered the implementation of the AFCS program to provide a comfortable commuting experience to the riding public.
