ANOTHER connector road seen as a fast alternative route for vehicles bound for Central and North Luzon will soon be constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said recently that the agency is mulling the construction of the North-East Luzon Expressway (NELEx) by 2019.

“NELEx is a 92.1-kilometer toll road that will start in Quezon City traversing San Jose Del Monte, Santa Maria, Norzagaray, Angat, San Ildefonso, and San Miguel in Bulacan as well as Gapan, Santa Rosa, and Cabanatuan in Nueva Ecija,” Villar said.

He noted that the feasibility study for NELEx will be finished this year and construction will hopefully start next year.

“Once NELEx is completed, it will decongest the Bulacan and Nueva Ecija portions of Maharlika Highway. It will also serve as fast alternative route for those vehicles bound for Cagayan Valley region. This will be connected to the Central Luzon Link Expressway,” Villar concluded. (PR)
