CITY OF SAN FERNANDO The Department of Trade and Industry Region III (DTI-3) issued a warning against the purchase of Christmas lights and lanterns without safety seals.

DTI-3 Supervising Trade and Industry Development Specialist Chief Norlito Tiglao said buyers must check properly the items they are purchasing to avoid being victimized by unsafe items.

“Pagdating sa Christmas lights, importante na maiwasan ‘yung mga fake o hindi registered na items kasi ibig sabihin, delikado silang gamitin dahil hindi dumaan sa safety check,” said Tiglao.

He explained that Christmas lights and lanterns must bear the Philippine Standard (PS) mark or the Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) sticker for guaranteed product safety and quality.

He said the safety marks and stickers also bear QR codes which can be used to verify its authenticity.

“Ang bawat manufacturing companies po ay may designated na control number kaya kung di nagtutugma ang nakalagay na manufacturer at control number, ibig sabihin fake ‘yan,” he said.
