Elderly with Covid-19 dies at AUF Medical Center

ANGELES CITY -- A 69-year-old woman from Apalit town died at the Angeles University Foundation Medical Center (AUFMC) on Thursday due to the coronavirus disease or Covid-19.

In its post, the AUFMC confirmed on March 26 that the elderly patient, who was confined in the hospital due to respiratory symptoms, has tested positive for Covid-19.

The fatality was identified as person under investigation (PUI) upon admission at the medical center.

The hospital assured that the victim’s “contact with other persons and use of the hospital facilities were controlled and minimized.”

All [medical] staff who had close contact with the patient have been accounted for and will undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine as mandated by the Department of Health (DOH) protocol.

“We wish to assure the public that safeguards are strictly enforced at AUF Medical Center to prevent the spread of the virus and ensure the safety of everyone -- our patients, their companions and visitors, and our hospital staff,” the medical center stated.

The AUFMC also stressed that it is closely working with the DOH and local government to limit the spread of Covid 19.

The hospital urged individuals who experience symptoms should immediately call the Angeles City Covid 19 hotlines 045 322 7796 landline; 0917 851 9581 Globe; and 0998 842 7746 (Smart) for assessment by the Angeles City Quick Response Team.
