THE Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) in Pampanga lauded the efforts of the "estero rangers" of this town in the battle to protect Manila Bay and in the various environment programs of the Department of Environment and natural Resources (DENR).

Penro Pampanga officer Roger V. Encarnacion and Mayor Dante Torres presented certificates of recognition to the estero rangers in simple ceremonies at the Plaza Burgos Park in Guagua towns. Estero rangers are tasked by the DENR as additional manpower in the protection of vital waterways.

Estero rangers are tasked to conduct removal of garbage from esteros fitted with trash traps and house-to-house garbage collection in selected alleys for transfer and storage at pickup points accessible to garbage trucks.

Estero rangers also serve as the communication link between the agency and the community in connection with the ongoing rehabilitation of Manila Bay.
