Ex-mayor: Road barriers to solve traffic congestion

FORMER Mabalacat City mayor Marino Morales said the putting up of road barriers at the center portion of the national highway solve traffic congestion in the locality.

Morales issued the statement during a fellowship with newsmen at the Bale Balita in Clark Freeport Saturday, December 15.

The barriers will control and contain the flow of vehicles plying the national highway, according to him.

Morales said he experience the traffic congestion from nearby Angeles City to this city when he joined the funeral service for former Congressman Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin last Friday.

“From Angeles City, it will take you an hour and a half just to get to Mabalacat. That's too much especially when you are traveling along MacArthur Highway,” he said.

The city's traffic bureau removed the barriers and opened the major intersections which cause traffic congestion, according to the former mayor.

Morales said he was forced to put up the road barriers few years ago to solve the congestion which also affects the North-bound lane in Barangay Balibago in Angeles City.

“Mayor Ed Pamintuan was always calling me and asking me to do something to solve the traffic problem in Mabalacat that is why we placed those barriers,” he said.
