Reynaldo G. Navales

OFFICIALS in Bulacan province have denied reports about serial kidnapping of young girls and women.

During a press conference on Wednesday, Governor Daniel Fernando described as fake news the social media reports claiming that females with ages 13 and above are missing.

The governor said the fake news has been causing scare among the residents of Bulacan.

"We want to clarify everything regarding doon sa mga nangyayari sa social media na nagiging katatakutan tuloy dito sa ating probinsiya regarding sa mga pino-post na nawawalang kababaihan," Fernando said.

Fernando warned the netizens posting false stories.

"Hindi po ito laro, hindi po ito basta basta na lang ipino-post kasi baka ma-wow mali po kayo. Mahirap po ito, nagkakaroon tuloy ng katatakutan dito sa mga kababayan natin," the official said.

Colonel Charlie Cabradilla, acting director of the Bulacan police, said most of the reports on missing young women in Bulacan that have been circulating on social media are false and unsupported by evidence.

The police official added that their investigations found that majority of the reported incidents were due to domestic issues.

Some of the reported victims were located and returned home, according to Cabradilla.

The police director appealed to the public to be skeptical of any content posted on social media platforms. He also asked online users to be responsible for what they share.

"We must exercise accountability in the digital age, particularly when publishing content to social media networks. These may cause confusion, fear, and disorder in our community," Cabradilla said.

He added that three of the four reported missing are minors who failed to inform their respective families about their whereabouts.

Meanwhile, Brigadier General Matthew Baccay, Central Luzon police director, directed Cabradilla to conduct a thorough investigation regarding the death of a 24-year old woman who was found dead in a creek in Tikay, Malolos.

The victim was later identified as Princess Dianne Dayor of Guiguinto, Bulacan.

Cabradilla said they are pursuing a robbery with homicide case.

According to him, the local police had identified a lone suspect who is acquainted with the the victim.

The local government of Malolos has offered a P300,000 reward for anyone who can provide information that will lead to the arrest of the persons behind Dayor's death. end

Cabradilla said Dayor's death is an isolated case and not related to the report regarding the missing teenagers.
