SOME 30 farmers and selected schools from nearby communities of Clark Freeport recently benefitted from the seedling dispersal program of Clark Development Corporation (CDC) dubbed “Gulayan sa Bakuran Tulong sa Kabuhayan at Kalusugan.”

Under program, the state-owned firm was able to disperse 500 trays of assorted seedlings composed of eggplant and pepper and 50 kilos of pechay seeds, and lady’s fingers (okra) seeds among others, to farmers from the municipalities of Porac, Pampanga, Bamban and Capas, Tarlac including Mabalacat City.

Meanwhile, representatives from Porac National High School, Villa Concepcion Elementary School and other selected partner schools were also given seedlings for their “Gulayan sa Paaralan” project which is also supported by CDC.

CDC External Affairs Division (EAD) Assistant Vice President Rommel Narciso said that the program is one of the thrusts of CDC in their effort to improve the livelihood of the nearby communities of this Freeport.

“We hope that through this program, we will be able to help you in your livelihood aside from the health benefits. This is our thrust as we acknowledge that communities around Clark are agricultural in nature,” Narciso said.

Prior to the dispersal program, a seminar regarding crop production and, management was also conducted by CDC to improve farmer’s information on the proper way of maintaining their crops.

The seedling dispersal program, introduced in 2014, is part of CDC’s continuing corporate social responsibility effort to uplift the lives of nearby communities here.
