MABALACAT CITY -- Mayor Crisostomo Garbo has vowed that the city government here will provide free health care service to the city's senior citizens.

Garbo issued the statement during a simple gathering at the Xevera Mabalacat Covered Court yesterday.

The mayor attended the event organized by the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs in honor of grandparents in the city.

Garbo has cited the important role of grandparents to the society. He also asked the elderly to allow the local government return the favor through health services and monthly pension.

The City Government has allotted funds for medical programs, including free medicines and hospitalization for indigent residents and senior citizens, according to the mayor.

The country early this month observed National Grandparents Day.
