PAMPANGA Governor Lilia “Nanay Baby” Pineda said that the Provincial Government of Pampanga will be donating 2,000 square meters of additional property to the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).

Pineda, who made the announcement during the recent inauguration of the new BIR complex, said the additional space will provide the agency with a parking area and address the traffic congestion along MacArthur Highway in Barangay Sindalan.

The BIR fully transferred its operations to its new building complex located in a one-hectare property donated by the provincial government.

The buildings include the BIR Regional Office Building, Document Processing Division and offices for the Revenue District Office No. 21A North Pampanga and Revenue District Office No. 21B South Pampanga.

BIR regional director Jethro Sabariaga welcomed the new land donation, saying it will contribute to the overall operations of the BIR.

He expressed optimism that the BIR will be able to meet its target collection this year as per the marching order of Commissioner Cesar Dulay.

The region exceeded its 2017 collection goal by P947 million or 3.17 percent, as it generated a total of P30.46 billion. The amount was 24.7-percent higher than in the previous year.

This was supplemented by the region’s update in zonal valuation of four its revenue district offices namely RDO No. 21B-City of San Fernando, South Pampanga, RDO No. 22-Baler, Aurora, RDO No. 23A-Talavera, North Nueva Ecija and RDO No. 23B-Cabanatuan.

The region likewise continued its aggressive recruitment in filing up efforts. It increased its employee hiring by 15 percent from 2016. The region also filed 17 RATE cases and conducted 29 Oplan Kandado activities.
