Human trafficking victims rescued in Floridablanca

FOUR women who were allegedly victims of human trafficking were rescued in Floridablanca town on Sunday, April 25.

Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Luzon Director Brigadier General Valeriano De Leon said the victims were allegedly performing nude shows on night bars in exchange for money.

The rescue of the victims also resulted in the arrest of three suspects identified as Joy Manasan, 59, Albert Manalansan, 47, both owners of the bars where the victims were performing, and a certain Robinson Navarro, 36.

Further investigation revealed that the arrested suspects are the leader and members of Manasan Criminal Group engaged in human trafficking.

Appropriate charges for Violation of Republic Act (RA) 9208 are being readied for filing in court against the suspects.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
