CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga -- As part of the 448th celebration of the Aldo ning Kapampangan, at least 500 inmates of the Pampanga Provincial Jail (PPJ) received on Friday, December 6, dental and medical services, courtesy of the Provincial Government, through its Provincial Health Office (PHO) and Provincial Malward.

PHO head Dr. Marcelo Jaochico said medical and dental missions are a must in the Pineda administration.

Jaochico said, “Actually, kapag Pampanga Day o Aldo ning Kapampangan, taun-taon kasama ang mga check-up ng mga inmates dito sa Provincial Jail.” (We conduct check-ups on inmates here in the Provincial Jail every year as we celebrate Pampanga Day or Aldo ning Kapampangan).”

“Kahit noong si Nanay Gov pa, ganito rin. Ngayong kay Governor [Dennis] Delta Pineda, tinutuloy pa rin naming ang mga programa niya (Even during Nanay Gov’s time, the provincial government has conducted these programs. Now, under Governor Delta’s administration, we continue doing the programs she started),” he added.

During the medical mission, the doctors and nurses conducted medical consultations and gave medicines to the inmates for their health problems.

Jaochico said the most common problem in the PPJ is the transmission of communicable diseases because of the crowded space they live in. Some patients have cough, colds, and pneumonia.

Skin problems such as carbuncles and boils are also common in the jail, so the health officers distributed some antibiotics and ointment to the inmates. They also gave multivitamins to help them prevent from acquiring skin diseases.

Aside from that, government doctors also found 12 cases of hearing problems among the inmates. Jaochico promised that PHO would refer the inmates to the Pampanga Hearing Center for a chance to receive hearing aids.

To make the dental and medical mission happen, the PHO convened the 11 district hospitals across the province. The district hospitals sent their chief of hospitals, best doctors, nurses, dentists, and dental aides. (PR0
