MOTORISTS and commuters expressed negative sentiments over the traffic situation in several parts of Pampanga this holiday season.

“Traffic dito, traffic doon. Kahit anong oras traffic,” said netizen Gio Alfonso in a Facebook post over the weekend.

Another netizen also lamented that the traffic jams, combined with high prices of petroleum products, do not help in the expenses of motorists.

In the Facebook post of Pampanga Information Office about traffic situations in the province, netizen Emily Balagtas Sombillo commented that most of her travel time from and to work is wasted in traffic jams.

“Imbes makauwi ng maaga, ngayon kailangan pang mag-out para ‘di gabihin at maipit sa traffic,” she said.

Netizens also cited various causes of traffic jams in the province including non-functional traffic lights, untrained enforcers, series of road works and presence of tricycles and trucks on the road.

Charles Reyes said in the comment section the possible solution to traffic problems in the province

“Implement traffic ban, tricycle ban, fix traffic lights."

No less than Vice Governor Lilia Pineda complained about traffic congestion in the province.

To address the traffic woes, the vice governor met recently with officials of the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Interior and Local Government, and Pampanga police.

Possible solutions raised during the meeting are deployment of LTO-deputized policemen who will implement traffic rules.

DPWH was also told to expedite the ongoing road works in the province, especially on major thoroughfares.
