A TOTAL of 1,465 Kapampangans recently benefitted from the P6 million worth of livelihood assistance given by Department of Labor and Employment (Dole)-Central Luzon under its Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (Tupad) program.

All beneficiaries were tasked to perform social community works like de-clogging of canals, clearing of road debris, and basic repair and maintenance of common public infrastructure.

Dole-Central Luzon director Zenaida Angara-Campita said the Tupad beneficiaries all came from the province’s calamity-stricken communities.

“We have partnered with the different Public Employment Service Offices in profiling marginalized heads of households in calamity-struck areas of the province and other parts of Central Luzon. This way, they were able to earn a little while recovering from the calamity that struck their homes and communities,” she said.

Campita added that aside from their salary which is based on the prevailing minimum wage rate, all beneficiaries were provided with social protection to ensure their work safety by enrolling them under the Government Service Insurance System’s micro insurance.

“Each beneficiary received around P4,200 as salary. They were also provided with personal protective equipment to ensure their safety,” Campita said.

Tupad is a community-based emergency employment rehabilitation program of the Dole that aims to uplift displaced or marginalized workers and their communities. (PIA-Central Luzon)
