CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- An officer of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Luzon recently went out of her way in serving the public by providing assistance to a baby diagnosed with hydrocephalus.

Nueva Ecija Provincial Police Office Spokeswoman Senior Inspector Jacquiline Gahid personally visited her beneficiary, a four-month old baby girl from Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija, after learning about her situation.

Gahid said she do not personally know or is related to the baby, but was touched by the braveness of the child and her parents in facing adversity, especially with the family’s financial incapacity to attend to the baby’s medical condition.

During her visit, Gahid handed over financial assistance for the baby girl’s medication, as well as groceries for the family.

Gahid also initiated an activity among her co-workers that would help raise funds for the baby’s medication and other assistance that would help her in fighting her condition.

Meanwhile, PRO-Central Luzon Director Chief Superintendent Amador Corpus lauded the efforts of Gahid in helping an in-need person, and expressed hope that other policemen will emulate such an act.

He stressed that the kindness showcased by Gahid is one of the Philippine National Police’s way of giving back to the needy people, whom police vowed to serve and protect.

"This is one way our police could give back to the people especially those who are in need. Senior Inspector Gahid is a good example that the men and women in uniform here in PRO-3 (Central Luzon) are not only committed in protecting our people against lawlessness but also have compassionate hearts for the needy and the sick,” Corpus said.
