THE Mabalacat City police have confiscated dozens of motorcycle mufflers during a surprise operation in Barangay Dapdap recently.

In her report, Lieutenant Colonel Soledad Elefanio, Mabalacat police officer in charge, said the operation was in line with their enforcement of City Ordinance 29, Series of 2014 and Barangay Ordinance 004, Series of 2008.

The ordinances prohibit illegal “open pipe” loud motorcycle mufflers, according to Elefanio.

Policemen assigned at Dapdap confiscated a total of 70 modified mufflers in the month-long conduct of checkpoint and Oplan Sita operations.

Elefanio said personnel of Dapdap Compac, led by Lieutenant Silvestre Colanza, conduct a regular operations against motorcycle riders using lout mufflers.

Elefanio lauded Dapdap Chairman Javier Taruc for supporting the police precinct in Madapdap resettlement.

"With our religious conduct of checkpoint and Oplan Sita operations along with the active support of the barangay officials of Dapdap headed by Captain Javier P. Taruc and force multipliers, the proliferation of motorcycles with open pipe mufflers will be stopped. I advise all motorcycle owners to voluntarily remove the illegal accessories to avoid facing possible hefty fines," Elefanio said.

She added that "confiscated modified mufflers will be destroyed to send a strong message to the public that authorities are stern in the enforcement of laws and would not hesitate to apprehend all violators without exemption."
