Mabalacat doctor says Covid response in city hasn't stopped

Reynaldo G. Navales

A LOCAL health official said the Mabalacat City Government has not stopped its Covid-19 response despite the decreasing number of coronavirus in the city over the past few weeks.

Dr. Jay Rivera, chief implementer of the city's Covid019 response, said this is in line with Mayor Cris Garbo's no let-up policy in the fight against the virus.

"We have not stopped. We have not faltered. We have not decreased our testing capabilities. We have established collaborations with Red Cross and the provincial government of Pampanga to increase our testing capabilities," the physician said.

Rivera said city officials, under Garbo's leadership, are working hard to increase patient recovery rate.

"Our focus really is to increase our recovery percentage and hopefully, have no mortality," the city health official said.

Rivera said the local government has completed the vaccination of its target population.

Mabalacat has also opened its vaccination to residents in other places to help other local government units achieve herd immunity.

Garbo earlier said the need to help other adjacent towns whose residents are working in the city and Clark Freeport, which is also part of Mabalacat.
