RESIDENTS and netizens in Mabalacat City thanked the City Government for various forms of aid, particularly rice, vegetables and even cash, amidst the impact of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) due to Covid-19.

People expressed gratitude to city officials led by Mayor Crisostomo Garbo for the 25-kilo rice subsidy and cash for needy households who may not have been entitled to the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

On May 2, Garbo, along with Vice Mayor Geld Aquino, distributed 25 kilos and P1,000 cash assistance to different barangays in the city. Earlier, Garbo personally distributed 25 kilos of rice to every household in Barangay Sta. Maria.

“We will continue distributing the city’s rice subsidy and cash aid even on weekends to Mabalaqueños,” Garbo said.

Earlier, the DSWD has approved 30,425 households to receive P6,500 SAP. Mabalacat has more than 81,000 households.

With the extension of the ECQ until May 15, the City Government decided to distribute 25 kilos rice subsidy to 51,000 households who are not included in the SAP.

Remedios Gerente, a supervisor at the Department of Education Division of Mabalacat City, thanked the Garbo administration in her Facebook post for the vegetables that the City Government has distributed. "Thank you po Mayor Garbo and company. Na-i-share ko po sa iba ang veggies. God bless po and keep safe to all."
