PEDICAB drivers whose livelihood was displaced due to the enhanced community quarantine yesterday received relief goods from the local government of Masantol.

Mayor Danilo Guintu said a total of 450 pieces of frozen chicken for the families of the pedicab drivers residing in this municipality.

He said the frozen meat is part of the assistance given by the local government to families severely affected by the lockdown brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.

“The pedicab drivers and their families only rely on the daily earnings and now that public transport services is suspended all over Luzon, they do not have means to sustain the needs of their families,” Guintu explained.

Aside from chicken, Guintu said pedicab drivers are also among those who will receive rice, egg and disinfecting alcohol.

He added that tricycle drivers in the town will also be receiving the same relief goods today, Friday.

Guintu assured his constituents that the local government is implementing measures to protect and support them during the enhanced community quarantine.

“The local government is doing everything to produce and source out relief packs to assist our kabalens who are severely affected by the community quarantine. We are asking everyone to be calm but alert, and follow what is asked by the government so we can fight the virus,” he said.
