SOME 50 beneficiaries from Mexico town, Pampanga received sewing machines as part of the livelihood program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Municipal Government of Mexico.

Mayor Teddy C. Tumang and DOLE Pampanga head Arlene Tolentino led the awarding of the sewing machines with corresponding materials to 50 beneficiaries under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (Dileep).

The Dileep is part of the national government’s poverty reduction through the creation of sustainable enterprises or the provision of emergency employment to marginalized workers.

Tumang, in a post on the town’s official social media page, encouraged beneficiaries to work hard and use the opportunity given to them to succeed, especially now that there is a pandemic, and the sewing machine awarded to them will be of great help to give them income.

Dileep is one of the flagship programs of DOLE that focuses on improving the lives of marginalized workers in local communities.

It seeks “to contribute to poverty reduction and reduce vulnerability to risks of the poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers through self-employment or livelihood undertaking.”
