CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Mall goers now have another exciting thing to visit at SM City San Fernando Downtown as the mystical forest-themed Christmas centerpiece was unveiled before the public over the weekend.

The launch of the instagrammable installation, which features a towering 20-foot Christmas tree, surrounded by four more little ones and life-sized mushrooms, lady bugs and butterflies, marked the official start of Yuletide season at SM City San Fernando Downtown.

The simultaneous lighting of the Christmas displays was led by Mayor Edwin Santiago, SM Supermalls Regional Operations Manager Andrea Madlangbayan and Mall manager Lana Erroba.

According to Madlangbayan, SM City San Fernando Downtown, along with other SM Supermalls across the nation, annually dress up for Christmas to spread the holiday cheers to its mall goers, especially children.

"This is an annual activity for SM Supermalls which is aimed at making our valued customers' Christmas in our malls a more memorable one. We wanted to make them remember how they spend their holidays in SM by taking good pictures, shopping presents and eating at their favorite restaurants with their families at SM malls," she said.

As Christmas is also the season of giving, SM San Fernando Downtown also brought treats to needy Fernandino children who are also beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program of the national government.

The children received exciting gifts from the mall and were given a chance to meet, greet and take pictures with Santa Claus.

Santiago, meanwhile, lauded the efforts of SM in making Christmas for Fernandino and tourists more exciting and meaningful with numerous activities it offers.

"Paskung Fernandino is always known to be a happy and meaningful celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ and we wanted to thank SM for extending that feeling inside their three malls in the city. Their efforts help us further invigorate our title as the Christmas Capital of the country," he said.
