CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) distributed some P7 million to the beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (Tupad) program over the weekend.

The distribution was facilitated by the Dole and the Provincial Government of Pampanga in which P4, 000 each was given to 1,755 Nanay Community Workers (NCW).

The beneficiaries came from the towns of Sta. Ana, Mexico, Arayat, and Magalang.

Tupad is Dole’s community-based emergency employment program where temporarily employed individuals were assigned to do community projects such as cleaning roads, canals, and schools.

It is a component of the Dole Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program. Tupad also aims to uplift displaced or marginalized workers and their communities.

Under the program, each beneficiary is hired to work for a minimum of 10 days with a daily pay based on the prevailing minimum wage. Each will be provided protective clothing and head gear and enrolled for insurance coverage with the Government Service Insurance System covering the entire duration of their work program.

The event was held during the “Empowering Women Through Involvement in Disaster Management: Orientation on Gender DRRM,” organized by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) headed by Angelina Blanco, at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center, San Fernando Pampanga.
