Nigerian nabbed for cyber-hacking

THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested a Nigerian who was allegedly involved in a cyber-hacking incident in December 2021.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente identified the Nigerian as 27-year-old Henry Chidi Obioma, who was arrested by BI intelligence agents on April 21.

Obioma was arrested in a residential area in Las Pinas City after the BI received information that he was working without the proper visa and permit.

The suspect was involved in online banking fraud that affected at least 700 clients of a major banking institution.

During the arrest, Obioma failed to present any immigration documents making him an undocumented alien.

“Scammers and fraudsters are not welcome in the country,” said Morente. “These aliens will definitely arrested, deported, and blacklisted for being undesirable."

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
