North-south commuter railway to cut Calamba-Clark travel time

TRANSPORTATION Secretary Arthur Tugade said travel time from Calamba in Laguna to Clark International Airport (CRK) will be reduced to one and a half hours once the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) is completed.

"Dahilan sa train system ng PNR, ang pagbiyahe mo from Calamba papuntang Clark airport ay magiging isang oras at kalahati," the Department of Transportation (DOTr) chief said.

Tugade said this DOTr project is a 56-kilometer railway that can accommodate 340,000 to 550,000 passengers per day.

The railway system has 19 stations, 19 Commuter Train Sets and seven Airport Express Trains, according to the official.

The railway is expected to employ more than 10,000 individuals, said Tugade.
