P1.2-M marijuana seized from college student

A COLLEGE student enrolled in a university in Manila is now detained at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Luzon in the City of San Fernando after he was arrested for possession of over a million worth of illegal drugs.

PDEA-Central Luzon, together with anti-drug agents from National Capital Region, Cordillera Administrative Region and Quezon City Police District, arrested Karlo Jose Pio R. Ricafrente, 24, a resident of Santolan, Pasig.

Ricafrente was arrested during a land interdiction in a bus station in Cubao, Quezon City for alleged drug trafficking.

PDEA-Central Luzon Director Lyndon Aspacio said Ricafrente, a native of Albay province, engages in drug trafficking to support his studies and his illegal vices.

A total of seven bricks of marijuana with an estimated street value of P1,200,000, three plastic bags containing brown powdery substance, one folded paper containing dried leaves, and another plastic sachet containing dried leaves and fruit tops were seized from the suspect.

The confiscated illegal substances were submitted to PDEA laboratory service for quantitative and qualitative examination.

Violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Acts of 2002 is being readied for filing in court.
