MORE than P200,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized from three suspected drug personalities during two separate drug busts conducted in Angeles City over the weekend.

Chief Superintendent Amador Corpus, Central Luzon Police Regional Office (PRO 3) director, said operatives of the Angeles City Police Drug Enforcement Unit launched an anti-illegal drug operation against one target drug personality identified as Anjo Muñoz in Barangay Virgen Delos Remedios in the said city.

During the said operation, Muñoz allegedly sold a sachet of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) to a poseur buyer, prompting the police to arrest him.

Aside from the sachet of shabu sold to the police and the P1,000 marked money used in the operation, police were also able to recover from Munoz’s possession seven more medium-sized sachets of suspected shabu weighing some 55 grams and estimated to have a street value of P165,000.

Another buy-bust operation launched by operatives of Angeles City Police Station 5 in Barangay Cutcut in Angeles City resulted in the arrest of one Herminio Yanga aka “Tangi”, 49, and Robert Cayanan, 39.

The two drug personalities are allegedly involved in the proliferation of illegal drugs in the city. Authorities said the two sold a sachet of suspected shabu to a police asset during the operation.

Confiscated from the duo’s possession were eight small sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P40,000, P500 marked money used in the operation, various drug paraphernalia and personal belongings.

Cases for Violation of Sec 5, and 11 Art II of RA 9165 were filed already against the three suspects at the Angeles city Prosecutors Office, Corpus said.

Corpus, meanwhile, lauded the efforts of Angeles City police in the war against illegal drugs which resulted to the arrest of three suspected drug personalities.

“We continuously conduct proactive operations and we see to it that we do not have any let-up as we are committed to wipe out if not prevent the proliferation of all forms of illegal drugs in the region,” Corpus said.
